Myspace Easter Graphics

Easter has become such a big thing, all around the world. Even in countries that don’t have a majority of Christians. In 2012, commercialism is something that is just a “fact of life” nowadays. And this is what has happened with Easter. You might ask to yourself when you are eating all those easter bunnies, “What does an Easter egg have to do with the fact that Jesus died for us then rose again?” What does it symbolise?

Anyways, in my family Easter is a day where the whole family gets together, eats a lot of food, and gives one another chocolate.  Usually we celebrate with one part of the family on Easter Sunday, then on Easter Monday we go to the other side. Easter is a lot of fun in my family, and we all have fun catching up with everyone who we might not have seen in a while. I know my pantry is already full with chocolate, and I still have more to go!

 So even if you don’t believe in the Jesus aspect of easter, I hope you all have a great day filled with fun and enjoyment.

One of the things we had to do was make a new avatar. As I had already made one, I had decided to make a new one with a different type of avatar maker. I decided to look up avatar makers, and found Manga avatar. It creates you a manga head and I was able to make it look like me.

So heres my avatar!

I really like it, and it looks like me too.

As my title said, yes I am doing the challenge again.

I think this time around it might be a bit harder because-

1. I don’t have my great mentor to help me and all my friends to work with on it,

2. I’m in high school now, which means more homework and less time for blogging and

3. I don’t have the time in school to work on it like I used to.

But I am really excited this time around, because it is the first time I’m going in it as an individual, and I hope I can manage it well.

One of the things I really like about my new laptop is the fact that the battery power lasts for ages. I charge it at night when I go to sleep, and then I can use it all day without charging it, which I think is great!

I also like the fact that my laptop is very light and slim, so I don’t have to take a huge bulky case to school each day. Instead, all I need is a skin, and it is protected, but not as heavy as bricks.

My laptop also has a lot of fun features, like Garage Band, where you can make music, and photo-booth, where you can take pictures with lots of effects. I think that the presentation tools like Pages, Keynote and Numbers are really useful too.

That’s pretty much all about my new Mac! I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts.

Poverty.

Did you know that almost half the world – that’s three billion people – live on less than $2.50 a day?

Poverty is a current global issue, and places like many African countries, India, and some Asian countries are going through deep poverty. Before I go deeper into this issue, let’s see a definition of poverty.

1. the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support; condition of being poor. Synonyms: privation, neediness, destitution, indigence, pauperism, penury. Antonyms: riches, wealth, plenty.

2. deficiency of necessary or desirable ingredients, qualities, etc.: poverty of the soil. Synonyms: thinness, poorness, insufficiency.

Poverty is caused by low income, something bad that has happened in the country that has caused not much money in the area, and peoples’ finances.

Who is responsible for poverty?

No one person is responsible. We as a whole are. These third world countries have not developed yet, and therefore there is no money flow.

What can we do to help?

One of the main things we can can do is to educate ourselves about the problem. Here are a few sites-

You can also donate to websites like World Vision Australia, the Red Cross foundation, buy merchandise from the ‘Make Poverty History’ website (you’ve probably seen the white wrist bands somewhere) and many more.

What does my school do?

Lapathon

My school (Clairvaux Catholic School) is paired up with the Cotton on Foundation to support Mannya, Uganda a country in Africa. My school runs a fundraiser every year, called the lapathon. We run laps around the oval, and the community can donate money per lap, or a basic amount. It is basically a sponsor. Then this money goes to my school’s sister school in Mannya, and the parish. HI!

Hi, I’m Gemma, and this is my first Blog.  I have been working towards getting my own blog for about two months at my school, through what is called a blog licence. I had to complete many tasks, and now FINALLY, I got it! I’m very proud to have earned it and I can’t wait to show you my digital life. Here’s a few things I enjoy:

• Singing – I love it and enjoy performing to others,
• Writing – I especially enjoy writing songs! I entered a story in a competion once and it got in a big book with all different student stories.
• Reading – If a good book comes out, I’m the first one to read it,
• Hanging out with friends and family – I’m a sociable person,
• Cooking – I’m not the best at it but I do love food!
• Pets – I love my two cats and one dog.

So that’s me! (One of the songs I wrote is called ‘That’s Me’, as you can see in the ‘My Songs’ page.) I hope you can relate to me and incase you wanted to know, like a lot of my friends I love the TV show ‘Glee’ and I am always always non – stop talking about ‘Glee’. Expect some Glee related posts!
