Edublogs Awards!

Here’s a special announcement!

As some of you may know, the ‘Edublogs Awards ‘ were today (15th of December) and I was very eager to watch. I prepared at school, and then got ready to watch the announcements live online! I was waiting because I set up so early, and was in the chat room talking to everyone.

Then at 11:00, it started! The announcers (people who ran the award) were talking through their microphones so we could hear them. There were 19 categories and they went through category by category, starting with…

Congratulations to Tech With Intent who won, and all the other nominees. At the end of their speech, they went on to the next category, which was…

This was my class blog’s, ‘Clairvaux Connects‘ blog, and this was the one that Mrs. N was excited for. The finalists were-

2KM And 2KJ @ Leopold Primary School,

Mr. Buxton’s 5th Grade Class SAS,

Mrs. Yollis’ 3rd Grade Class Blog,

St. Wolstan’s Transition Year Blog and..

Mr. Salsich’s Class. So Clairvaux didn’t get in. But that was okay, because we still had one chance left. Me!

Congratulations to Mrs. Yollis’ 3rd grade class blog for coming first.

Then there was the most exciting category of all-

I was really nervous, as this was the category that I was in.

The finalists appeared on the screen. Their names were…

Miriam’s Blog

Jake’s Blog

Jarrod’s Blog

Jaden’s Blog and….

MY BLOG!

I was literally jumping up and down, but then I realised that I still had to find out who won. My hands were shaking, my knees knobbling, and my heart beating at 100 miles an hour.

The winner was…

JADEN’S BLOG!

Congratulations Jaden :)

I wasn’t that disappointed that I lost, because I had achieved so much. In under 6 months of blogging, I had been able to get so far. Most of these people have been blogging for a few years, so I was really proud of myself. I also got to make a thank you speech live online to the world!

I was awarded this badge to display on my blog. I also won a free 12 month Edublogs Pro subscription.

I added that picture to my sidebar, so now everyone will know!

The rest of the awards continued but I was too excited to watch them all.

Again congratulations to everyone! . . . and

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO VOTED FOR ME AND TO MY FRIENDS FOR THEIR SUPPORT!

Student Challenge 10 – Evaluating and Nominating

I have decided to nominate for best student blog…

~Simone~

I decided to pick Simone’s blog because it shows a lot of thought and dedication to her work, and she is also on top of everything she needs to do.

Her blog has a lot of interesting posts, about lots of variety so most people will have something they can relate to. I really like her blog, and hope eventually mine can be as good as hers. It looks like she puts a lot of effort in to it!

So make sure to check her blog out and leave comments, and let her know where you came from (my blog!)

So who did you nominate? And if you didn’t nominate anyone, who would you nominate?

GoAnimate

GoAnimate is probably one of  the best web 2.0 tools. I love it! You can make your own animated video in seconds, and it is really fun! All you have to do is write a few short lines, and the videos that are ‘text to video’ will be created in literally seconds!

I’ve been playing around with GoAnimate for about a week and a half, so I decided to make a post on it.

I really like web 2.0 tools because they are fun filled things to do and you can use them for many things.

This is a quick video I made using the ‘text to video’ videos about two Ipod’s complaining because the school holidays are coming, and how they are going to be used: alot.

Hope you enjoy!

Neave

Neave – Sounds funny, doesn’t it?

Once you know what Neave is, it doesn’t sound that funny. Neave is kind of a digital playground, where you can do many things. You can look at a planetarium, speak or click to make balls bounce, get ‘strobed’ in illusions, play with a webcam and much more. My sister recently discovered Neave, and I have to admit I was reluctant to see what it was, but when I did I thought it was the best thing out.

So you probably want to see Neave now, don’t you. Well, here’s the link :

Glee 3D concert movie

Well. In Australia, ‘Glee Live! 3D’ just came out, so I decided to go see it with some of my friends last Sunday. I was really excited, and so were my friends.

Once we got to the cinema Erin had to redeem her ticket, so we were waiting in line and I couldn’t stop laughing. That happens sometimes. :) We finally got to the front of line, Erin got her ticket, and then… into the movie we went! Caitlyn thought the 3D glasses were weird, and so did Erin and I. They were really big!

The movie was 3 syllables – A-MAZ-ING. I loved it! We kept yelling “I LOVE YOU!” when our favourite male characters came on. The movie was part concert, part backstage, and it also focused on 3 people whose life had changed because of ‘Glee’. We sang to all the songs, which was really fun. Oh yeah, and the 3D just made it 100% more awesome!

After the movie, we couldn’t stop talking about it. We took our pictures in front of the sign, and then went shopping! We were looking for ‘Glee’ posters but there weren’t any.

Well, that was my fun-filled day seeing one of the best movies EVER!

I may as well keep it short and sweet so,

Caitlyn’s Guest Post

Hello World,

My name is Caitlyn and I am your guest blogger. Today I am going to talk about music! Now we all know that Gemma loves to sing and she also loves music. So I decided to join in and tell you the lastest music.

It’s been told that ‘Party Rock Anthem’ is the new hit song but not everyone seems to think so.  I personaly like UK singer Adele’s song ‘Rolling  in the Deep’. ‘Rolling in the Deep’ is a great song! It’s really good and if I do say so myself- awesome! It’s about how Adele had just been in a breakup and she is saying that she can handle it and she is better off without him.

Tell me what your top 10 favourite songs are in the comments below and I will reply to you!

My ‘Glee’ Obsession :)

Glee logo

Hey again, Firsly I’d like to say thanks for all your comments! A lot of you have been saying you are looking forward to my ‘Glee’ posts, so I decided to make this post devoted to ‘Glee’! You could say it’s a Glost. Lately a lot of speculation has been around ‘Glee’ and what will happen when most of the ‘Glee’ members graduate. In case you didn’t know, Sam may still be a Junior (yes!) and so could Blaine (yes also! Blaine is my favourite character :) ) The last season had a great story line, and at the end of every episode I would be at the edge of my seat, thinking – “Why, oh why, does it only go for an hour a week?” I understand why, it does take a lot of filming, singing, and dance choreography. I’m so happy with ‘Glee’ and during the winter here in Australia, it’s summer in America and the ‘Glee’ stars are taking a well deserved break.
The Glee Project

As I said in my Toon Doo, there’s ‘The Glee Project’! This is a great show and it showcases many people and their talents. These people are competing for a 7 episode story line (arc). Most of these people wouldn’t even had an oppurtunity to be on ‘Glee’ and it now they have the chance of a lifetime. I suggest if you like ‘Glee’, watch ‘The Glee Project’! It’s on at 7:30 on Fridays (AEST).

My ‘Glee’ obsession is huge, and I can’t wait until September when it’s out again.

 Stay posted,

Gemma :)
